Solar Return - What does it mean?

It’s Birthday Time!

Happy Birthday, it’s your Solar Return! Well, at least almost. Solar Return means the time of the year when the Sun is exactly in the same location of the sky where it was when you were born. The Earth takes around 365 days to orbit around the Sun. Yes, one year, our western calendar is solar based. Therefore you have a Solar Return once a year and it marks your birthday.

There is, however, a 3 day span around your birthday when your Solar Return can happen. The Earth's orbit is actually 365,25 days and this is corrected with leap days. Therefore the day of your Solar Return and your calendar birthday aren’t always the same. If this happens, you just get an extra day to celebrate!
