Solar Eclipse in Aries on April 8th 2024

When the Sun and the Moon meet where their ecliptic paths cross each other we get solar eclipses. The Moon is in front of the Sun and hides it from us. This is possible because the Sun is ca. 400 times further away from us and ca. 400 times bigger than the Moon. This means that they appear to be exactly the same size from our point of view. Fascinating coincidence - or maybe divinely planned.

When eclipses happen they reset energies on Earth. It’s like a switch that is put off and on again. There is a belief that during the eclipse the veil between us and other realms is lifted. It is time with heightened spirituality. It breaks our normal cycle.

Why is this eclipse something special? It happens in the sign of Aries, the sign that starts the astrological year. Aries means fresh energy and new beginnings, it is a masculine fire sign ruled by planet Mars. The eclipse is in exact conjunction with Chiron, an asteroid connected to deep healing. This could mean healing and reset of the masculine energy like the symbology suggests. Aren’t we all kind of done with the low expression of masculine energy obsessed with fight and conquer.

The eclipse will occur after sunset in mainland Europe, so it won’t be visible here. The eclipse will be partially seen in Svalbard, Iceland, Ireland, western parts of Great Britain, north-west parts of Spain and Portugal, the Azores and Canary Islands. It is called the Great North American Eclipse as it will cross the continent from Mexico through USA all the way up to Canada.
